On April 25, in the New York's famous Madison Square Garden, The Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko, 39, was on the way to defend his undisputed heavyweight crown of three governing bodies- WBA Super, IBF and WBO. This was the champion's first visit to the States after seven years!
The last time Klitschko stepped up on the ring here in New York was on February, 2008, when he had the decision victory over The Russian, Sultan Ibragimov, and took his WBO belt. Since then Wladimir has fought only in Europe. Be honest, this fight turned out well and opponent was choosed quite respectful. And this is clear! Wladimir knows the best, that the "soap fights" against the low-quality contenders, which often happens on the rings in Germany, in the States won't work out, and what Klitschko really costs in America will be observable in the rankings of pay-per-view.
Bryant Jennings, 30, is in the game of boxing only for six years till now and had less than twenty amateur fights. But he already has earned good wins against some quality opponents, and in the ring, in the front of Klitschko, Bryant didn't look scared. Of course, there was some lack in The Americans technics, he didn't work his jabs and often was late on his feet. But the movement around the ring, slip and slides off the champions punches were on the good level. So, if Jennings could correct his disadvantages mentioned above, there will be quite a problem for Klitschko!
The first half of the fight went under the guidence of Wladimir. At the middle rounds Jennings became more aggressive and took the lead for couple of rounds, but then quite down again. In the round 10, the refferee took the point off of Klitschko for bending opponent, but this fault couldn't much impact the final result of the scorecards. Two judges saw it 116:111, and one 118:109, all for the winner, Wladimir Klitschko, who's new record now is 64(53 KO)-3(3 KO). Bryant Jennings has suffered his first loss on the professional ring, he now has 19(10 KO)-1!
