On Saturday, November 10, LA's Staples Center was the home of the three title bouts. The most intriguing was the fight between two great Latino fighters for the super-bantamweight title

The Mexican Abner Mares, 26, very confidently defended his WBC belt against awkward and dangerous southpaw, Anselmo Moreno, 27, of Panama. Moreno is tall and very good on his feet, but unfortunately for him Mares could find and caught him in the 5-th, sending the Panamian to knock-down. In the 11-th, while the clinching, Moreno got one point taken from him for the pulling Mares down. By the end the scorecards are very clear in the favor of Abner Mares- 116:110 twice and 120:106!!! Mares now has 25(13 KO)-0-1, but Anselmo Moreno experienced his second loss, he is now 33(12 KO)-2-1.

Also on the bill, another Mexican, Leo Santa Cruz, 24, defended his IBF bantamweight title, easily beating his compatriot, Victor Zaleta. The count for Zaleta was opened three times, in 4-th, 7-th and 8th rounds, before the referee stopped the contest in the 9-th by TKO. Santa Cruz now has 22(13 KO)-0-1, but Zaleta is 20(10 KO)-3(1 KO)-1.

One more champion still unbeaten and with his belt. The 25-years-old Welshman, Nathan Cleverly retains for 3-rd time WBO light-heavyweight title. His opponent, American-native, Shawn Hawk, 28, took this fight only one week before, maybe that was the reason for such a poor performance. Cleverly got Hawk down twice in the 7-th and once in the 8-th, before the referee stopped the contest. After the successful US debut Nathan Cleverly's record is 25(12 KO)-0. Shawn Hawk has now 23(17 KO)-3(1 KO)-1.
