The last week-end in the Lithuanian city by the sea Klaipeda took place youth and senior international tounament "Amber Gloves" which collected the boxers from 6 countries- Poland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Armenia and Lithuania. Very succesful were the fighters from Latvia.
Andrejs Makreckis (56 Kilo) from Jelgava beat two home fighters until the final, but in the last fight for the gold medal he beat Latvian Eriks Malinovskis from Liepaja, by the corner stoppage in the first round. Maksims Drozdovs (60 Kilo) decided to try himself at the senior class, he is only 18 himself, in the semi-finals beat 15 years older Lithuanian opponent, but in the final lost to much more experienced home fighter Gytas Vaitkus. Riga's heavyweight Ralfs Vilcans (91 Kilo) in the finals overclassed Arturas Novickas from Lithuania, stopping him in the first round by nice right uppercut.
