Corrie Sanders was born January 7, 1966 in the capital of South Africa, Pretoria. Never had a flash amateur carrier, turned pro 1989 at the age of 23. Corrie recomended himself as the very hard-punching southpaw and the first eight years as the pro kept knocking his opponents out having only one defeat. In 1997 he won WBU heavyweight belt and defended it for three times later on. But the high-point of Corrie's carrier comes in 2003, when in Hannover, Germany he sensationally knocked spark out Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko and took his WBO title. Almost one year later, not having defences of his title and, actually, vacated it, he fought and lost to elder of two brothers, Vitali, by the TKO in 8. His last fight was in 2008, when he finished with the record of 42(31 KO)-4(4 KO).
Tonight, Corrie with his family were in the restaurant near Pretoria, where they celebrated Corrie's nephew's 21-st Birthday. In the restaurant broke in armed robbers who wounded Sanders in the stomach, he died in the hospital just a few hours later. Corrie Sanders was 46!
