Yesterday, October 25, in one of Chicago hospitals, after undergoing surgery for diverticulitis died one of the greatest boxing coaches ever, Emanuel Steward. He was 68.

Emanuel Steward was born July 7, 1944, in Bottom Creek, West Virginia. At the age of 12, Emanuel with his mother moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he got involved with the boxing. After brilliant amateur carrier, with the record of 94-3, Emanuel doesn't turn pro, but began working as amateur coach in Detroit's Kronk Gym in 1971. Later on, Emanuel started to train also professionals. The lightweight Hilmer Kenty becomes the first world champion trained by Steward in 1980. The fighter, who Steward had been for all his carrier was the legendary Thomas Hearns. Later Steward bought Kronk Gym and made it as the famous brand name all around the world. Time by time, Emanuel worked with many excellent champions on the different stages of their carrier, but the years long relations Steward had with such a brilliant fighters as; Wilfred Benitez, John David Jackson, Mike McCallum, brothers Milton and Steve McCrory, Michael Moorer, Lennox Lewis, Jermaine Taylor, Yuriorkis Gamboa, at the last years Emanuel was always in the Wladimir Klitschko's corner. 

Emanuel Steward is considered as one of the most familiar boxing figures today, also as one of the best boxing coaches, analysts and commentators. For more than 10 years Emanuel commentated the boxing matches at HBO. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.....
