In German Oberhausen was the fight between WBA and IBF champions. The Aussie Daniel Geale, 31, in the split decision beats local hero, Bosnian-born, Felix Sturm, 33, and to his IBF belt added also WBA Super champion's belt. The judges scores were 116:112 twice to Geale and the same once to Sturm. It was Geale's 3-rd defence of his title, now his record is 28 (15 KO)-1. Sturm, after 12 defences, goes to 37 (16 KO)-3 (1 KO)-2.
In Verona, NY, regular WBA champion, Gennady Golovkin, 30, of Kazakhstan for 4-th time defended his belt, beating by TKO in the 5-th former European champion, Pole Grzegorz Proksa, 27. Proksa was down in 1-st, 4-th and 5-th rounds, after the third knockdown referee stopped the contest. Now, Golovkin still unbeaten 24 (21 KO)-0, Grzegorz Proksa goes to 28 (21 KO)-2 (1 KO)
On the same bill, former WBO light-middleweight champion, Ukrainian Sergei Dzinziruk, 36, fought to draw 12-rounder against less experienced puncher Jonathan Gonzalez, 23, of Puerto Rico. Scores went 117-111 to Dzinziruk, 115:113 to Gonzalez and 114:114 even. Now, Ukrainian is 37 (24 KO)-1 (1 KO)-1, young Puertorican 15 (13 KO)-0-1
