On September 14, in Riga's Kipsala Exhibition Center will go on the first fighting show THE RING STARS. The best Latvian amateur and professional boxers, K-1 kickboxers and MMA fighters will challenge the Europe's and the world's eminent opponents. The viewers will see three title fights at pro-boxing.
The 1. FIGHT. For the vacant BBU (Baltic Boxing Union) light-middleweight title at boxing. 6/3 min rounds
31-year-old Riga's Sergejs Malcevs, 8(6 КО)-2(2 КО)-2, will face more experienced opponent from Lithuania, 27-year-old Andrej Cepur, 7-16(8 КО)-1. The Lithuanian already has fought for the very same belt in 2012, but unsuccessfully. This is going to be his second title attempt.
The 2. FIGHT. THE BOXING 6/3 min rounder at the lightweight
The young unbeaten prospect from Armenia, 24-year-old Vahram "The King" Vardanyan, now settled down in Riga, will take on 22-year-old southpaw Janis Puksins, 3(2 KO)-18-2, also from Riga. Vardanyan is unbeaten in his previous 8 fights, with the 4 KO's. In 2009 Vahram captured the Latvian flyweight title, but now he is fighting at the lightweight division.
The 3. FIGHT. MMA cruiserweight bout. 3/3 min rounds
The seasoned fighter from Liepaja, 26-year-old Roman Skiba, is multiple times Latvian Kickboxing Championships medalist and 2012 Latvian Grappling GRAND PRIX winner. Roman will step up against young, but quite experienced fighter from Moldova, 21-year-old Victor Bargan, who is the medal owner of the European and World amateur MMA Championships.
The 4. FIGHT. For the vacant LATVIAN SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE at BOXING. 10/3 min rounds
On the ring will step the two experienced fighters. The 29-year-old Riga's Olegs "The Viking" Fedotovs, 16(11 КО)-12(3 КО), who has been Latvian middleweight title holder before and is GBU (Global Boxing Union) world champion. His opponent, 31-year-old Gatis Skuja from Tukums, was European Cadet (under 17) Championships bronze medalist in 1998, but after turned pro in Britain, where also fought for the International Masters title in 2007. Skuja's record is 5(2 КО)-13(2 КО)-4.
The 5. FIGHT. AMATEUR BOXING heavyweight contest. 3/3 min rounds
The last decade's best Latvian amateur boxer, 29-year-old Nikolajs Grishunins from Ventspils, is 12-time National Champion, 2006 European Union Champion in Sardinia, 2008 European Championships bronze medalist in Liverpool and two-time World Cup bronze medalist. Nikolaj's opponent is younger, but also titled fighter from Estonia. 21-year-old Rain Karlsson is 2012 World University Champion in Baku. So, The Estonian is world student's champion!
The 6. FIGHT. K-1 middleweight contest. 3(4)/3 min rounds.
The best Latvia's K-1 kickboxer, muay-thai fighter from Riga, 26-year-old Zaur Dzhavadov is widely known to the local crowd. Zaur is European pro-muay-thai Champion and European K-1 Cup winner. Against Dzhavadov on the ring will step the young, but also already seasoned fighter from Romania, 21-year-old Max Budeci, Romanian kickboxing champion.
The 7. FIGHT. For the vacant LATVIAN INTERNATIONAL CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE at BOXING. 10/3 min rounds.
And the top of our bill will be one more title fight. The experienced fighter from Bauska, 22-year-old Arturs Kulikauskis, who has fights against 4 European and 1 world champion. Arturs' record is 11(6 КО)-18-3, but the most notable win is over European ex-champion and world's vice-champion, The Ukrainian Yuri Barashyan. Arturs is expecting the hard opposition from the previous unbeaten fighter, 25-year-old strong African Youri Kayembre Kalenga from Democratic Republic of Congo. Kalenga is now based in France and is the French rating's Nr. 1 and also Nr. 25 in the world. He is unbeaten in his 16 fights with 10 wins by the way of KO!
