On the night on 20-th and an early morning of 21-st of April, in Europe and the United States will go on a few title fights. But one special occasion will take place in the States. The clash between two unbeaten fighters, two current world champions.
San-Antonio, Texas. The title unification bout at light-middleweight. The WBA champion, 27-years-old American, Austin Trout, won his belt as vacant on February, 2011, in Mexico, beating by the decision the home fighter, Rigoberto Alvarez. Since then, Trout successfully defended his title for four times, in the latest one unanimously beating by points The Puerto-Rican star, Miguel Cotto. Trout is unbeaten in his previous 26 fights, with 14 wins by the way of KO.
The WBC champion and the challenger, in this case, is the 22-years-old Mexican whiz kid, Saul Canelo Alvarez. Fighting as pro since his 15, Alvarez received the belt on March, 2011, also as vacant, beating easy by points the brother of the former English world champion Ricky Hatton, Mathew. Now, behind Alvarez are five successful defenses, including wins over ex-champions Kermit Cintron and Sugar Shane Mosley. But even earlier came the wins over such a notable fighters as The Argentinian, Carlos Baldomir and Lovemore Ndou of South Africa. Canelo has 41 wins, 30 of which came by the way of KO, and 1 draw.
THE PREDICTION: Of course, for both guys this is going to be the toughest test so far. The most useful gun for Trout is his high working rate with the ability to force the pace and making his opponents getting tired. But in his attacks Austin must using very carefully his own defense, otherwise the fast Canelo won't forgive any mistake. For Alvarez, without already mentioned speed, the trump also going to be his feet movement, using which he can turn down all Trout's trying to reach himself, and then go for the counterattack to switching on his speedy hands again. I think that the fight will go the distance. I would bet 60/40 for Saul Alvarez.
