On the last Saturday, September 15, in Germany and on the two shows in Las Vegas went the seven exiting title bouts

Bamberg, Germany. 27-years-old IBF cruiserweight champion, Cuban southpaw Yoan Pablo Hernandez in the hard fight defended his title against 2-time Olympian, Guyanese-born Troy Ross of Canada. Hernandez was much quicker from the beginning, but then got tired in the latest rounds. Probably, it was the result of Ross' awkwardness for Yoan Pablo, Ross also is the southpaw. Maybe, it was the result of great experience of Canadian. Anyway, the Cuban won clearly, but with the small gap in the points- 116:112, 115:112, 114:113. It was the second defence of Hernandez, he is 27(13 KO)-1(1 KO), and the second unlucky title attempt for Troy Ross, he is 25(16 KO)-3(1 KO).

Las Vegas, MGM Grand. The Mexican Leo Santa Cruz, 24, defended his IBF bantamweight belt. Puerto Rican-born, former WBA flyweight champion, Eric Morel, 37, from Wisconsin, retired after the 5-th round with no knockdowns behind. Santa Cruz is right now 21(12 KO)-0-1, Morel goes to 46(23 KO)-4(1 KO).

In the fight of two seasoned Mexicans, Jhonny Gonzalez, 31, lost his WBC featherweight belt to former WBO super-bantam champion, Daniel Ponce de Leon, 32. Gonzalez was down in the 6-th, but in the 8-th, after the accidential headbutt, he got the bad cut above the right eye. The fight was stopped, but Ponce de Leon was leading on points and now he is the new champion, his record is 44(35 KO)-4(1 KO), Gonzalez now 52(45 KO)-8(3 KO).

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, 22, for the fifth time defended his WBC ligh-middleweight belt leaving no chances to American Josesito Lopez, 28. Lopez went down in 2-nd, 3-rd and 4-th rounds, in 5-th the referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight during the another punishment of Josesito. "Canelo" now 41(30 KO)-0-1, Lopez is 30(18 KO)-5(1 KO).

On the another Vegas' show in Thomas & Mack Center, Roman Martinez, 29, of Puerto Rico, quite doubtfully, won the vacant WBO super-feather belt. In very hard and exiting battle, by the split decision of the judges and the viewers, he got the victory over 23-years-old Mexican, Miguel Beltran Jr. The scorecards went twice 114:113 to Martinez and 116:111 once to Beltran. The new champion, Roman Martinez now is 26(16 KO)-1-1, but Beltran has 27(17 KO)-2(1 KO).

Former two-time Olympic champion, the Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux, 31, doesn't KO, but still very determined defended his WBA super-bantam belt, beating clearly American Robert Marroquin, 23. Rigondeax still unbeaten with 11(8 KO)-0, Robert Marroquin goes to 22(15 KO)-2.

But on the night's top of the bill, the son of the Mexican legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 26, lost his WBC middleweight belt to the world's division's Nr.1, Sergio Martinez, 37, of Argentina. Chavez showed a lot of heart, the all second half of the fight, former professional cyclist Martinez was the head above, and it was reflected on the Chavez's face. But young Mexican kept walking forward and even dropped Martinez in the 12 round, but it was too late already... Sergio Martinez is the new champ and his record now is 50(28 KO)-2(1 KO)-2, Chavez Jr. goes to 46(32 KO)-1-1.
